Ministry Trainees
Our Aim
As Paul passes the baton on to Timothy, he does so with this charge, “preach the word” (2 Tim 4:1-2) – to faithfully hold out God’s word as the way God brings people to salvation and eternal glory (2:8-10). Not only that, Paul charges Timothy to also be one who passes on the baton: “what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also” (2:2).
It is no different today. God has not changed, nor has the fundamental problem with the world and its desperate need to hear the word of truth through which God will call people to salvation and eternal glory. And the baton still needs passing on to the ministry leaders of the future.
As such our desire is to play our part, under God, to raise up godly men and women who will rightly handle the word of truth, as they serve God and his people.
Training
Ministry Trainees receive training through the Cornhill Training Course in London, as well as individual mentoring from staff members. Our trainees can put that training into practice through bible teaching opportunities such as leading a small group, one-to-one bible studies and giving talks.
Training also includes practical service to support the range of ministries within the church. This can include admin, practical building support, catering and cleaning. We have a breadth of ministries to serve within: children, youth and families, students, workers and music, across diverse congregations – so there’s a lot of experience to be gained!
We hope that Trainees will stay with us for two years as they complete F1 and F2 at Cornhill, but this is flexible.
