The Bible teaches us that wisdom is corporate, and one way we can benefit from the wisdom of others is discussing Christian books together. Book group will run throughout the year, covering a different book each month. Anyone is welcome to join a discussion – you don’t need to sign up for the whole year!

30 January: The Plausibility Problem by Ed Shaw – sign up
It’s all very well to say that the Bible is clear when it talks about homosexuality. But isn’t it unrealistic and unfair to those who struggle with this issue? Is what the church teaches a plausible way of life? Ed Shaw experiences same-sex attraction, and yet he is committed to what the Bible says and what the church has always taught about marriage and sex. In this honest book, he shares his pain in dealing with these issues – but, at the same time, shows us that obedience to Jesus is ultimately the only way to experience life to the full.
27 February: Gospel and Kingdom by Graeme Goldsworthy – sign up
We often say that the whole Bible talks about Jesus, but it can be hard to know what we mean by this. Using the theme of ‘the kingdom of God’, Gospel and Kingdom helps us read and interpret the Old Testament, seeing how the whole Bible fits together and points to Christ. If you missed the ‘Bible in a morning’ back in November, or want to think more about some of the ideas we talked about then, this would be a great book to read.
Please sign up by 20 January if you would like us to order a copy for you.
