Families at Christ Church

Children

We want our Sunday services to be a place where the whole family can learn about Jesus. 

Children start in the service with their families for the first 15 minutes or so. During term time at the 11am service there is an all-age talk and song. The children then go to their own groups, where our team of leaders help them understand a bit of the Bible, which is usually the same as what the adults are thinking about in the sermon. Sessions include games, crafts, prayer and discussion, and we provide talking points to help the family keep thinking together afterwards.

Groups at 11am:  

  • Creche: 0–4s
  • Roots: Reception–school year 2
  • Shoots: School years 3–6

There is also a group for reception–school year 6 at the 5pm service, and a self-service creche with a video link to the service.

Youth

Sundays

School years 7–9 start in the service and then head to their own group partway through for games and a discussion of the same Bible passage as the sermon.

School years 10–13 stay in the whole service. Afterwards they have an opportunity to chat with each other and their leaders about the sermon and life more generally.

Youth Link

Roughly once a month, the young people meet on a Friday for a fun-filled evening of hilarious games, delicious food and great teaching from the Bible. Everyone in school years 7–13 is welcome to come along, whether you’ve been to church before or not.

Little Lights

Little Lights is our midweek group for parents, babies and preschoolers.

The group meets every other Wednesday in term time at 10am–11.30am in the church building. There are toys and activities for the children and we want to look after the grown-ups too, so we offer coffee and pastries, friendship and encouragement from the Bible.
